memories
Pete Bell,
Friars fan from Weston Turville
"I
remember Def Leppard in 1980 - Joe Elliot's tight leather trousers
and all! The support band, Witchfynde had a very good single out at the
time 'Give Em Hell' which is worth downloading for any old metalheads out
there. The lead singer - Steve Bridges - wore a tassled leather waistcoat
and really rocked out for a support band! Sledgehammer, the other support
band were from High Wycombe I think and appeared on a compilation album,
'Metal For Muthas' with the song, um 'Sledgehammer'"

what
happened next
Def Leppard
made it huge in America and still tour today in Britain's biggest venues. On the
way though the band had to deal with the tragedies of the death of Steve Clark
and Rick Allen learning to play a special drum kit with his feet and one arm
after he lost the other in a road accident
Witchfynde are still playing as at
2012 having split in 1984 and reformed 25 years later.
Sledgehammer
appear to have finished by the mid 1980s
