After the Bad Manners debacle
earlier in the year (one of the most shocking and unpleasant gigs I
had ever seen) which i felt did the piranhas no favours, this gig
was a perfect Xmas tonic and right good fun. This is easily one of
my favourite gigs of all time. By this time, The Piranhas had had a
huge hit single with Tom Hark – a great summer tune but completely
unrepresentative of their work. Sadly a very under-rated band

what happened next
Not content with one novelty hit with 'Tom Hark' a new version of
the Piranhas
charted in 1982 with 'Zambesi' This did not reflect how good a band they were
Bob Grover was gigging as at 2008 in a new band called Dates. John Helmer went
on to become Marillion's co-lyricist with Steve Hogarth, post-Fish. Grover and
Helmer as at 2012 are reunited in Piranhas 3D
