Could and should have been huge. lane's 1977 album Rough Mix which showed his true credentials received rave reviews but poor promotion. It was also in this period that he was diagnosed with MS. He continued to perform for many years, moving to the US where a climate change aided his health. His health ultimately took a turn for the worse and with little money coming in, his old Faces chums, Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart ensured his medical bills were paid. At Rod Stewart's Wembley Stadium 1987 gig, he reunited The Faces and was, along with everyone else, visibly moved when Ronnie Lane made his way to the stage. Lane died in 1997.

Rab Noakes is still performing and took part in a successful and superb Gerry Rafferty memorial gig in early 2012.
