Edgar Broughton
"Gosh!
That is all a bit hazy these days. I just remember it being the best gig
for miles around and that is about it. I suppose I was always a teeny bit
stoned, come to think of it."

what
happened next
A popular turn at Friars, it was no surprise
that
Gillan
made four headlining appearances including the 1982 date on
his farewell tour as he had been advised that his voice could be under
threat. Gillan the band fell apart and subsequently (after vocal cord
surgery) went on to front a reformed Deep Purple who still tour to this day
the Broughtons with their original
Broughton/Broughton/Grant line up still play and they blew the roof of when they
came back to Friars in 2009
