The Exhibits

Here are just some of the exhibits we displayed during the exhibition - further details are in the exhibition programme.

Nick Mason's legendary Wave drum kit used on the 1977 Animals tour. What was really exciting was discovering that this kit is actually the kit he used at Friars Dunstable in 1969 and was repainted.

The very next morning following the closure of the exhibition, this kit was packed and flown straight to Milan for another exhibition.

The microphones and more that Otway trashed! Everyone knows about the legendary Otway and Barrett song Headbutts.........

Friars icon Howard Jones kindly recreated his 1982 keyboard rig that he would have used at Friars

An amazing part of the local bands section was this feature on the late great Lol Coxhill

This is part of Bowie's ripped shirt which he threw into the audience on July 15th 1972. The lucky person to catch it was Vivien Symons who allowed us to display it and it generated much attention.

When the just about to go massive U2 headlined Friars in 1981, this was the Vox AC30 used to get the Edge's distinctive sound.

One of Friars biggest gigs was Genesis in 1980. Mike Rutherford loaned us one of the double necked guitars he used at that gig. Also on display is the "Talent Spotters" Cup that Genesis presented to David in 1973 as a token of appreciation for Friars role in their ongoing success.
