memories

Andy Ellison, Radio Stars:

I do remember the gig very well, and the venue being one of the best on the circuit, in the late 70's. Played there with EDDIE AND THE HOT RODS and SQUEEZE, and then in our own right, on the first night of the RADIO STARS never ending holiday tour, that went on for about 9 months, starting at FRIARS, AYLESBURY, where we took a coach load of jouranlists to the venue with a conjurer on board, and topless girls serving drinks, i don't remember much about what happened later that night, but all i remember it was a great gig, and i've got great memories of your venue, Happily I'm still alive, and Radio Stars are up and running and could play there again if you want. We recently played The Forum, London.

Steve Wright, radio stars website

Many congratulations on your 40th anniversary. Growing up through the late 70's Friars was a venue that my favourite band Radio Stars played on numerous occasions. Thanks to singer Andy Ellison they had some wild nights there !! It is a venue that I will always remember. Check out the Official Radio Stars Website - www.radio-stars.com

what happened next
Radio Stars still occasionally play.

The Reaction morphed into Talk Talk who headlined in 1982 and went on to have reasonable success in the 1980s
